Due to increased popularity and lack of space in casinos, in the 4 season is change something and buy-in for most European Poker Tour events was increased to € 8,000, this in exchange rates in 2007 was $ 10,000, representing buy-in for many of the World Poker Tour events.
The 2009 season begins on August 6 in Moscow. European Poker Tour are hosted by the largest casinos in Kiev, Barcelona, London, Vilamoura, Warsaw and the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. Comparative with the 6 players World Poker Tour, European Poker Tour final table are up to 8 players.
PokerStars are those who have sponsored European Poker Tour and the filming deal Sunset + Vine for television broadcasts worldwide. PokerStars sponsors also other events in the world like World Cup of Poker or other tournaments of interest.
John Duthie is the one who created the tournament, the winner of the inaugural Poker Million tournament. Duthie presents the show with Colin Murray and James Hartigan. Caroline Flack was the first host of the show, then joined and Natalie Pinkham, and Kara Scott introduced in season 4.
In season 5 about 2300 of total participants have won the place on PokerStars. European Poker Tour Grand Final winner of € 2.3 million euros was Pieter won Korver. This season was one that brought a huge success and for other participants as Sebastian Ruthenberg, Michael Martin, Will Fry etc.
