      Phillip D. Ivey, born February 1 in Las Vegas-Nevada, 1976 is an American professional poker player. He grew up in New Jersey. He started playing poker at the age of eight, playing penny-ante five card stud with his grandfather who wanted to teach Phil some lessons. Phil completely ignored his grandfather’s lessons, telling everybody that he would be a professional some day. His pro poker career started in Atlantic City. Owner of 7 bracelets. Money Finishes in number of 35. 1 Title won, 8 Final tables, 11 Money finishes at the World Poker Tour and 1 Money finishes, Final table at the European Poker Tour.

      Phillip D. Ivey has won seven World Series of Poker bracelets and has a World Poker Tour title, making the final table there a record eight times.
      At the age of 23, Phil won his first World Series of Poker title, beating Phil Hellmuth and Amarillo Slim in the $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. . In 2000, he was the first person to defeat Amarillo Slim heads-up at a WSOP final table.
      In 2002, Phil claim three more WSOP bracelets, wining the $1,500 Seven-Card Stud, $2,500 Seven-Card Stud Hi/Lo and $2,000 SHOE events. At the age of 25, Phil made several WPT final tables.
      In 2005, Phil earned his 5th WSOP bracelet in the $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event, and made two WPT final tables. In November 2005, Ivey won the $1,000,000 first prize at the Monte Carlo Millions tournament. Next thay, he took home another $600,000 for finishing first at "The FullTiltPoker.Net Invitational Live from Monte Carlo". His six opponents were: Mike Matusow, Phil Hellmuth, Gus Hansen, Chris Ferguson, Dave Ulliott, and John Juanda.
      January 2006 was an incredible moment for Phil who was named Player of the Year by All In Magazine, Bluff Magazine, and the UK Gaming Awards. His success continued at the 2006 WSOP, with a 2nd place finish in the $5,000 Omaha Hi/Lo event and a 3rd place finish in the $50K HORSE event, winning over $800K in total. In 2007, Phil won the "Earphones Please" episode of “Poker After Dark” for $120K before making the final table in the 2007 WSOP $5K HORSE event.
      At the beging of 2009, Phil has already won his 6th gold bracelet in the $2.5K No-Limit Deuce-to-Seven Lowball event where he defeated a field of 147 players to catch his bracelet. He also won his 7th bracelet in the $2.5K Omaha/Seven-Card Stud Hi/Lo event for over $220K in prize money. This is a very important victory which makes him part of an elite group of players with at least seven bracelets to their name.
      This year in november, Phil will have the opportunity to win one more bracelet as he plays at his first ever Main Event final table. His career tournament earnings are guaranteed to increase by at least $1.26 million.
      As of 2009, his total live tournament winnings exceed $12,096,000.$3,461,008 of his total winnings have come from cashes at the WSOP. Phillip D. Ivey is one of the young stars of poker.
