Party Poker: Deposit Bonus vs No Deposit Bonus

Players considering signing up for Party Poker have an interesting choice to make.  Should they start off with a standard deposit bonus or instead opt for a no deposit bonus?

The choice sounds simple –  not making a deposit is better than making one, right?  Well, that all depends on whether or not you have spare cash to deposit with.  If you’ve got an absolute lack of funds, the no deposit option is for you.  However, if you have a couple of bucks lying around that you can afford to play with, the choice isn’t so simple.

Why is that?  Simple.  Both deposit bonuses and no deposit bonuses are basically forms of limited time rakeback.  For all Party Poker no deposit offers, you need to earn a certain amount of Party Points before you can withdraw your bankroll or any winnings.  To get points, you need to pay rake –  so even though you get the bonus upfront, you’re still more or less getting rakeback.

Deposit bonuses work in a similar fashion.  You deposit, use whatever the current Party Poker bonus code is, and Party credits your bonus account with the bonus amount.  As you earn points (pay rake), Party moves the bonus money from the bonus account to your regular account.

So, both are basically rakeback deals structured in slightly different ways.  Here’s the important part: When you do the math, you’ll find that the deposit bonus usually offers a better rakeback rate than the no deposit bonus.  Even though it might seem like the no deposit bonus is a better deal –  free money, right? –  the deposit bonus is absolutely better for players who have money to deposit.  You pay a lot of rake playing poker, and any time you can do something to get more of that rake back, that’s an opportunity your bottom line needs you to take.
